Mailbox verification, not mail delivery
If 92.222.87.97 or mail.datascoutmail.com appeared in your mail
server's log, this page explains what it was. The host checks whether an email address can
receive mail. It is operated by GAMMA IT SOLUTIONS SRL (Chișinău, Moldova) for
Data Scout, which keeps its own, separate domain.
What the connection does
- The conversation
- It opens a session, says
MAIL FROMandRCPT TO, reads your answer, and quits. It never issuesDATA— no message body, no subject, no attachment is ever transmitted, so nothing can be delivered to anybody's inbox. - Envelope sender
verify@probe.datascoutmail.com- HELO / PTR
mail.datascoutmail.com— forward and reverse DNS match, SPF and DMARC are published for the name.- Pace
- A rate held per receiving mail server, which backs off as soon as you slow it down and climbs again only while you keep accepting. A
4xxis a reason to wait, not to retry harder. - What we keep
- The address checked, your server's reply code and text, and a timestamp. Answers are cached, so the same address is not asked about twice.
- What a rejection means
- If your server refuses us — a block, a TLS demand, greylisting — the result is recorded as unknown, never as "this address does not exist".
Keeping your domain out
Write to abuse@datascoutmail.com with the domain name. We add the domain, and every address we already hold for it, to a suppression list that is checked before an address is verified — so the checking stops and what we hold about the site is deleted with it. Blocking the IP or the HELO name at your edge works too, and is read as unknown rather than as a verdict about your users.
The same address is where an abuse report or a blocklist notice should go; it is read by the people who operate the host, not by a queue.
Why this name is separate
Address verification talks to mail servers all day, and that is judged by reputation systems whatever it does. Keeping it on its own registrable domain means nothing it earns can reach the domain our customers and payment providers see. That is also why this page carries no pricing and no sign-up: the product lives at getdatascout.com.
